The children's side includes a small Chinese and French picture book collection. West Oakland has an extensive children's section focused on providing early literacy materials to children and their parents, as well as a growing teen collection. West Oakland also has graphic novel collections for adults, teens, and children, and a large print collection. A toy lending library for children 0-5 is housed at this location.
The branch is equipped with six computers with internet access available for public use and a study room that can be reserved three (3) months in advance.

Every Tuesday from 11:30am-12:00pm the Children's Librarian leads family storytime, followed by free play.
