Enough: Say Their Names (AAMLO Meet the Authors)

George Floyd mural

Join your neighbors, as we Meet the Authors during a virtual observance marking the one-year anniversary of the death of George Floyd (1973-2020). Contributors to this remarkable anthology, Enough: Say Their Names, share their perspectives on racial caste in America and the struggle for social justice. In the wake of Floyd’s death, people of conscience launched protest marches in every major city of the United States and across the world.

On May 25, 2020, Floyd, a hip hop artist and sports enthusiast, died while in the custody of the Minneapolis police. Millions witnessed the televised encounter as Officer Dereck Chauvin pressed his knee on the neck of Floyd for nine minutes and twenty-nine seconds, which predictably caused the death due to a lack of intake of oxygen. The Minneapolis City Council approved a settlement in the amount of $27 M to Floyd’s family.
