CANCELLED: Recycle a Bicycle at Your Library with Cycles of Change

Cycles of Change logo

The Oakland Public Library is looking for people who want to earn a free bicycle! Learn how to ride safely in the streets of Oakland, do a bike safety check, and get tips on basic bike repair and maintenance. Join us for a day-long training on road safety, street smarts, route finding, and basic bike maintenance, taught by members of Cycles of Change, a local non-profit dedicated to bike safety education and promotion in East Oakland. Cycles also operates the Bikery, a community bike shop in East Oakland which offers used bikes for sale and full service repairs.

Space is limited to the first 15 adult participants and pre-registration is required. This program is free and open to adults who stay in East Oakland. You’ll leave with a bike, lock, helmet, and lights! A light lunch will be provided. Please register in advance by calling Mana Tominaga at 510-238-6611, or the Bikery at 510-536-6732 or emailing engagement@oaklandlibrary.org
