Dimond

The Dimond Library TeenZone is the newest in the Oakland Public Library system. It is a great place to hang out, study or volunteer with friends. Our YA collection has award-winning fiction as well as popular series, and features a diverse non-fiction selection. Find a new favorite story, browse books on varying hobbies and interests, or utilize our academic support resources and college preparedness materials. The space boasts a wide range of magazines, CDs, video games, and a growing manga and graphic novel collection. The Dimond Library Teen Zone also features:

  • Computers designated for teen-use only
  • Comfortable mobile seating and a table for study and recreation
  • Dry Erase Boards for teens to showcase their art work and express their thoughts
  • A Teen Opportunities Binder with information on jobs, internships, scholarships and more
  • One-on-one advisory appointments with your Teen Librarian to receive help with research projects for school and recommendations for books, music and movies

We host ongoing programs in the space including monthly arts and craft programs led by the Dimond Teen Advisory Board, which meets on the second Saturday of every month.  We have larger programs for teens in our newly renovated Meeting Room such as our weekly video game sessions on Thursdays 3:30-5. We also host special events for teens including movie programs, college essay and tutoring workshops, and coding and Scratch classes. Come visit our new space during library hours and enjoy the many programs and services we offer teens. Please contact the Teen Librarian if you would like more information on programs and volunteering at the library or if you would like schedule an advisory appointment.
