Teen Advisory Groups
Can't get enough of volunteering? Want to show off your leadership qualities (or get some)? The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group of teens, led by teens, who want to participate in all things related to the 81st Avenue TeenZone. This includes designing and planning teen library events, mobilizing teens in community projects, and selecting and purchasing books, CDs, video games and DVDs for the library.
To join the TAB, fill out a volunteer application and bring it into the TeenZone, complete 10 hours of volunteering, and show up for your first meeting. A commitment to showing up for monthly meetings is expected.
Meetings occur on the third Tuesday of every month from 4:00-5:00 in the TeenZone. Snacks and music are provided. Space is limited, so apply early. Get involved with your library! For more information, contact librarian Susan Maldonado: firstname.lastname@example.org, (510) 615-5823.
The Asian Branch Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meets to express ideas, organize upcoming teen activities, and suggest new teen programs for the branch. They also help to choose library materials, and decorate the teen area of the library. TAB members can earn community service hours and meet new friends.
The Asian Branch TAB meets once a month of third Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm. Contact the Asian Library at (510) 238-3400 for more information.
