Library volunteers assist staff in many ways, including tutoring adult literacy students, serving as computer docents, answering informational questions, reading to preschool children, etc. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Library, you may contact one of the programs below
or your local library :
Adult Volunteer Application in PDF or MS Word format
Teen Volunteer Application in PDF format or MS Word Format
(If you are prompted for a network password, click "Cancel".)
The application officially registers volunteers with the Library and the City of Oakland. It also provides for insurance and for identification of an emergency contact. The application helps to assess volunteer skills and to match applicants to available Library volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers under 18 years of age need a permission slip signed by their parent or guardian. This "Youth Volunteer Permission Slip" is part of the Teen Volunteer Application. Adult volunteers are required to list two personal references on the application form. |
