If you have received a notice of fines in your email, it may be for fines that have been on your account for a very long time, not for new fines. We have just begun sending out quarterly notices to patrons with outstanding balances on their accounts. We apologize for the confusion. Beginning now, you will receive these notices every 3 months. We do offer online fine payment. Thank you.
Free Tax Assistance Program Starts February 5
The Tax Assistance Program at the Oakland Public Library will not begin February 1, as originally announced, due to recent revisions to the tax code and subsequent delays in the distribution of tax forms and software. Tax Help, provided by AARP volunteers, will be available at five Library locations: Main Library (starting February 6); César E. Chávez branch (starting February 7); Dimond branch (starting February 5); Eastmont branch (starting February 8); and Golden Gate branch (starting February 6).Tax Assistance (Flyer and Schedule). Tax Assistance will continue on a weekly schedule until April 15.
