On Monday, May 27th, the library will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday. All branch locations will be closed on Tuesday, May 28th. The Main Library will be open on Tuesday, May 28th.
MLK Branch Library to Re-open August 18

Thu, 07/26/2012 Oakland, CA – The Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch Library, located at 6833 International Blvd, will reopen on August 18, 2012, after the completion of repair work that began late December 2011. The recent renovations include:
- New automatic front door entry
- Upgraded ADA accessible public restrooms
- New, open Lobby
- New Book security system
- New Lighting throughout
- Additional computers
- New Interior and Exterior Paint
- Upgraded Electrical and Cabling
This was the second in a two-phase upgrade of the branch. Phase I was completed in January 2008 and included new carpeting, bookshelves, service desks, public furniture, and bookdrop.
A party will be held at the branch on September 1. More details will be announced soon.
