The Waters of Oakland

The staff of the Oakland History Room has mounted a new exhibit, The Waters of Oakland, which will tell the story of
- Lake Merritt's metamorphosis from tidal slough to urban lake,
- how East Bay residents have worked and played on and along Oakland's lakes, creeks, and estuary,
- and the current reconstruction of the 12th Street Dam and Lake Merritt parkways.
The exhibit, featuring historic photographs, planning documents, vintage postcards, and news articles, runs through June 20, 2013. Be sure to stop by the second floor of the Main Library to see this new display!
