About the Lakeview Branch
Lakeview has approximately 35,000 books, compact disks, videos, DVDs, audio books, audiocassettes, and magazines and newspapers for all age. Circulating materials are largely of popular interest, with a strong emphasis on best sellers and Books on Tape and Books on CD. The Books on Tape and Books on CD collection isone of the largest in the branches. The magazine collection is sizeable and there is one Chinese language newspaper.
The branch is equipped with four computers with Internet access for public use.

Our Artist for November and December, Nancy Duranteau, has a B.A. in Economics from Boston University, Advanced Masters level studies in Organizational Psychology at Columbia University, Coaching certificates from JFK University and PDI International and a Master in Fine Art degree from the Academy of Art University.
Documentary photography represents Ms. Duranteau's commitment to change the world one image at a time. By creating images that showcase societal issues, she invites both clients and viewers to connect with her art to support self-improvement and strengthened communities.

Encaustic is a mixture of beeswax, resin and pigment that is melted and applied to wood supports, allowing for endless possibilities for layering, collage and texture.
Jen Leighton is an Oakland, CA-based artist and art educator. She has earned a BFA in painting and a MA in Art and Religion. She teaches art at Castro Valley High School and conducts private lessons in her studio. Some of her tutees have their work on display in this show. Her current passion is spending time with her family and to explore texture and design through the media of encaustic collage. Layers and texture are important elements in her work revealing a variety of materials. Inspiration is found within natural elements, vintage drawings, playful child inspired designs, religious symbols, and language: specifically ASL (American Sign Language; her parents are deaf) and English.
