Now Recruiting New Members
See contact info at bottom of page.

Do you like public speaking or want to get better at it? The YLC serves as a junior speaker’s bureau for teens age 13-19.

Help the library improve its service for the next generation! Consider joining the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) and help Oakland improve its service to young people!

YLC members gain valuable experience supporting the library by meeting and interviewing library officials and learning about how a large public service organization makes decisions and deals with change. Members of the YLC also represent the Library at community and national functions.

We meet from 11 am to 1 pm on the third Saturday of every month in Room 219 in the Magazines and Newspapers area of the Main Library. Snacks are served!
