Vicky Chen vchen@oaklandlibrary.org 238-3400

I am the Teen Librarian at the Asian Branch, located in Oakland Chinatown. I have a degree in Library Science from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. Before coming to the Asian Branch, I was the Teen Librarian at the Eastmont Branch. I am always looking for interesting new materials for our collection. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching movies, and hiking. I like to welcome and talk with teens who visit our library.

Pete Villasenor pvillasenor@oaklandlibrary.org 535-5621

My name is Pete Villaseñor – and here I am at Eastmont Branch (see photo). I used to work there and at the Main TeenZone, but now I’m at Cesar E. Chavez Branch.

As a Teen Services Librarian since 2005, I have had lots of fun building Teen collections at three different libraries and putting together Teen events and programming like Video Gaming, Movie Nights, and Craft Programs.

I moved to San Francisco in 1995 from San Antonio, Texas. I love bicycling, listening to music, and printmaking.

Eastmont Library

Xochitl Gavidia xgavidia@oaklandlibrary.org 615-5726

Hi!  My name is Xochitl and I am the Teen Librarian at the Eastmont Branch.  I have a lot of experience working with youth, mostly in the non-profit world, and enjoy it immensely.  I look forward to serving the teens in the East Side and hope to host some fun events in the library.  Before coming to Eastmont I worked at the Main Library for three years in the Circulation Department.  I am a native Oaklander and am thrilled to be part of the library system I have used all my life.

When I am not at work I love spending time with my family (especially my new baby son,) traveling, cooking for friends/family, watching food network/ crime shows/ reality TV, going to the movies, reading true crime novels, going for long walks, and reading to my baby."

Temescal Library
Lyn Taylor ltaylor@oaklandlibrary.org 597-5049

I began my life as a Teen Librarian when the TeenZone first opened five years ago—and what an adventure I’ve had! I love working with teens, whether it’s buying your book, comics, anime, music or game suggestions; helping you find the information you want; providing programs that interest you; or just chatting about what’s on your mind.

Teen Outreach Librarian
Amy Sonnie asonnie@oaklandlibrary.org 238-7233

Amy is the Teen Outreach Coordinator. She spends part of her day working in the TeenZone and the rest collaborating with amazing youth organizations, artists, schools and community groups to bring library services to all corners of Oakland. Amy coordinates the library’s Youth Leadership Council and teen volunteers. Before becoming a librarian she was Associate Director of the Center for Media Justice/Youth Media Council. She loves writing, technology, tea and bike rides.
