Books for Wider Horizons - A project of the Oakland Public Library, Books for Wider Horizons recruits, trains, and places volunteer story readers in several Oakland Head Start centers and OUSD preschools throughout Oakland.

The Oakland Public Library's Oakland Libraries After School (OLAS) will offer access to computers, library collections that support school curriculum, drop-in homework assistance for elementary school students, and the opportunity for kids to participate in enrichment programs. Four branch libraries (Main, Cesar E. Chavez, Eastmont and Golden Gate) will be the pilot sites to offer OLAS in Spring of 2008.
