1A. The Financial & Administrative Services Office is open from 8:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. We are closed on Saturday's & Sunday's.
2Q. How many vacancies do you currently have and when will I be contacted for an interview?
2A. The Financial & Administrative Services Office does not maintain a list of library part-time vacancies. Supervisors review applications when vacancies occur and will call you for an interview if they are interested. 3Q. Where can I pickup an employment application?
3A. Part-time application materials can be picked up at any Oakland neighborhood branch or at the Main Library, in the hallway on the 2nd floor. Full-time or permanent part-time applications and job announcements can be picked up at the City of Oakland's Office of Personnel, 150 Frank Ogawa Plaza, on the 2nd floor or by visiting www.oaklandnet.com.
4Q. How long will my employment application be kept on file?
4A. Applications are kept on file in the Financial & Administrative Services Office for 6 months. Upon receipt of your application, FASO staff will send out a letter of receipt with a 'good until
' date to each applicant. You must complete and submit another application after the 6-month timeframe has expired if you have not been interviewed. If this is regarding a permanent part-time or fill time position, the Office of Personnel will contact all applicants as to their progress throughout the Civil Service process.
5Q. What is the difference between a part-time and a full-time application to work at the Oakland Public Library?
5A. A part-time application for employment with the Oakland Public Library affords a candidate the opportunity to work a maximum of 18 hours a week in a non-benefited position under the City of Oakland umbrella. The part-time positions that we accept applications for are Library Aide, Library Assistant, Literacy Assistant, Library Program Assistant, Library Program Leader, Librarian I & Librarian II. A full-time application for employment with the Oakland Public Library can only be accepted when there are full-time or permanent part-time vacancies available and listed through the City of Oakland's Personnel Department. Applications are made available on the city website at www.oaklandnet.com or at the Main Library on the 2nd floor in the Financial & Administrative Service Office as vacancies occur. Application materials must be turned in to the City of Oakland's Office of Personnel at 150 Frank Ogawa Plaza, 2nd floor and is the first step in the Civil Service hiring process.
