Carpentry Safety Class

Learn how to use carpentry hand tools and power tools in this safety class.  This class is for do-it-yourselfers, homeowners, and others who want to become familiar with basic tools and learn safe carpentry practices.  

Instructor John Shurtz has a lifetime of building trade and teaching experience.  He worked for 30 years as a carpenter and general contractor on new and remodel projects in the residential and light commercial field and now teaches carpentry, woodshop, and job training at Laney College, Castlemont High School, Civicorps, Rising Sun Energy Services, and other nonprofits in the Bay Area.  John is also an OSHA-certified instructor, and teaches construction safety as well.


*Please note that attendance will be limited to 30 people on a first come, first serve basis.
