Poetry without Borders

Oakland Public Library celebrates this year's National Poetry Month by honoring migration, building on the National Poetry Coalition's program "Because we come from everything:  Poetry & Migration" (which borrows a line from U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera's Borderbus).

This year's program will feature

  • Avoctja, Luchi Corpa, Judy Juanita, Bonnie Kwong, Ginny Lim, Richard Moore aka Paradise,
  • Wanda Sabir, Kim Schuck
  • The Ina Coolbrith Circle
  • Library staff poets Andrew Demcak, Garrett Lambrev, Steve Lavoie and Teya Schaeffer

There may be time for an open mike at the program's end, so bring your favorite piece related to the migration theme.
