Free Tax Assistance
In partnership with the AARP Tax-Aide program, the Oakland Public Library will be offering free tax assistance to patrons from Friday, February 1st through Monday, April 15, 2013. Trained volunteers will be available to help residents fill out their tax forms at five library locations.
Tax Help at the Main Library
Assistance will be available at Main Library on Mondays and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm, and on Wednesdays from noon to 4pm.
The Main Library does not accept advance appointments for tax assistance. All help is walk-in. Be sure to arrive in time for the beginning of the day’s session in order to receive a time slot. Seniors ages 60 and up will be given priority for walk-in appointments. If you would prefer to make an advance appointment, you can do so for tax help at the following locations: Cesar E. Chavez Branch, Dimond Branch, and Golden Gate Branch.
What to Bring
Participants need to bring copies of last year’s federal and state tax returns and all materials pertaining to their 2012 tax forms for themselves and their spouse (if filing jointly).
