Downtown Streets Team

Downtown Streets Team at Oakland Public Library

Downtown Streets Team operates a Volunteer Work-Experience Program for the unhoused and those at-risk of being unhoused and are committed to ending homelessness through the dignity of work. We are currently in 13 cities in northern California, and our award-winning Work Experience Model provides beautification in the communities that we serve, in Oakland we’re beautifying all over Lake Merritt! Encampment and recently housed residents volunteer their time, as Downtown Streets Team Members, to improve their community, in return for their time and effort, they earn a basic needs stipend, and also gain access to Case Management and Employment services to support them in reaching their goals towards self-sufficiency.

We hold Weekly Success Team Meetings, which are open to the community, on Thursdays at 12:30pm at the Oakland Private Industry Council (PIC) located at 286 Grand Avenue,
Oakland, CA  94610, where unhoused individuals and community residents can learn more about who we are and what we do, and meet our Team Members who are beautifying all over Lake Merritt. Also, at the meeting, Team Members get connected to resources available in the City of Oakland, and interested unhoused individuals are able to join the team.

Drop in 3rd Wednesdays, between 10-12 pm.
