Watercolors by April Watkins

Image advertising Watercolors by April Watkins at Oakland Public Library

April Watkins' creations are watercolors and watercolor collage. Light on landscapes, flowers, objects, or faces fascinates Ms. Watkins. She captures the sparkling contrasts of light and dark colors. She combines several images, which she calls "moments" within one composition. She works either on location or in the studio from photographs.

Ms. Watkins has a BA in painting from UC, Berkeley and a MA in Human Relations from the University of San Francisco. She has received public art commissions including a mural at the Oakland convention Center, art elements at the West Oakland Senior Center, and sidewalk inset called "Drums" at the Addison St. Arts District, Berkeley.

Bring your friends and enjoy this breath of fresh air and caress of color!
