Katrina in Five Worlds: A Palestinian Woman's Global Journey in the Early 20th Century: A Reading by the Author
Katrina In Five Worlds/Katrina en Cinco Mundos is the bilingual biography of the author’s Bethlehem-born grandmother, Katrina Sa’ade. Drawing upon family records, taped interviews and long-lost letters, this dramatic emigrant women’s tale explores the historical and social events that thrust young Katrina from Ottoman-ruled Palestine into far-flung places, including Mexico during the Revolution, and across social divides in the first half of the 20th century. Kathy will also share her experiences in researching, writing and self-publishing a family history. Her reading will be followed by questions and answers!
Ms. Kenny is an Oakland-based family historian and artist who traces her origins to Bethlehem, Palestine and Mexico. She is the former President of the Arab Film Festival and a founder of Women in Black in San Francisco
