"Got Bars? – Graffiti Letters & Styles" with Visual Element

Got Bars is an introduction to graffiti letter structure. More than just lines on paper, participants in this hands-on workshop will create a collaborative graffiti piece, building visual literacy and learning the beauty and power of letters.

Taught by Leslie Lopez of Visual Element, the youth mural arts program at East Side Arts Alliance. In the tradition of Diego Rivera and Siquieros, Visual Element supports the development of political muralists and youth artists who beautify our neighborhoods and provides a positive, community-based outlet for creative expression through graffiti.

Got Bars is part of a series of urban art workshops co-hosted by Oakland Public Library and the Estria Foundation. For a full list of workshops click here.

Workshops accompany a year-long Youth Mural Arts Exhibit on display at four Oakland Public Library locations, November 2013-2014. For exhibit locations and details click here.
