Friends of the Oakland Public Library
The mission of the Friends of the Oakland Public Library (FOPL) is to advance the role of the Oakland Public Library as a vital community resource and as an institution critical to the culture, education, and welfare of our diverse community. FOPL is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.
The Bookmark Bookstore
FOPL's 800 members provide financial support for library projects and programs that enhance library services to the residents of Oakland, Piedmont, and Emeryville. FOPL volunteers staff The Bookmark Bookstore, a quality used book store located in Old Oakland. All proceeds benefit the Oakland Public Library.
Many Oakland libraries have branch friends groups.
