(Oakland, CA)—The Oakland Public Library announces that its Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch, which is temporarily closed to the public for remodeling, will reopen on Thursday, September 13, 2007—not September 11th as originally planned. The facility, located at 6833 International Boulevard, is receiving new carpeting, replacement of some shelving, and new furniture as part of the first phase of a more extensive library renovation as envisioned in the Oakland Public Library’s Master Facilities Plan.
During this time period, residents can use and return their library materials to any of the 15 other locations of the Oakland Public Library, including the Eastmont Branch Library, Eastmont Town Center, 7200 Bancroft Avenue, Suite 211, and the Elmhurst Branch Library, 1427 88th Avenue.
For more information, please call the Branch Administration Office at (510) 238-3511. To view the Oakland Public Library’s Master Facilities Plan, go to its Web site at www.oaklandlibrary.org.
