***************************************************************************************************************************************** ( Oakland, CA)—For kids (grades K-8) who like to paint, draw, build, glue, sew, collage, and play with clay, there’s a new reason to head to the Oakland Public Library after school. The Museum of Children’s Art (MOCHA) is offering free, weekly drop-in art workshops at four Library locations, starting September 15 and continuing throughout the school year. The program is funded Oakland Fund for Children and Youth (OFCY), also known as “Kids First.” The locations and times are as follows: Golden Gate Branch - Wednesdays, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Eastmont Branch – Wednesdays, 3 – 5 p.m. Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch – Tuesdays, 3 – 5 p.m. Main Library Children’s Room – Wednesdays, 2 – 4 p.m. Kids who attend every week will receive special prizes, including free books and movie passes. Besides the weekly programs at those four branches, MOCHA will also offer single workshops on Friday afternoons at all of the other branches in the Oakland Public Library system. Each branch will host a few Friday afternoon sessions through the school year. The Library will announce these dates during the preceding month. For information, call the Library’s Children’s Services Department at 510-238-3615, or visit http://www.oaklandlibrary.org/links/kids/index.html.
