Tool Library Will Close for Improvements

(Oakland, CA)—The Temescal Tool Lending Library will temporarily close for remodeling, repairs and a new paint job from Monday, August 21 through Friday, September 1. It will reopen on Saturday, September 2, when it resumes its normal schedule. The closure period will also allow staff to conduct a complete inventory of the thousands of tools it provides to users of the Oakland Public Library. These changes will result in improved services to its many customers. The Tool Lending Library will accept items for return only on August 21 and August 22.

The Temescal Tool Lending Library is located in the basement of the Temescal Branch Library, 5205 Telegraph Avenue. It was originally established in the year 2000 thanks to seed money from a Community Development Block Grant. It now offers nearly 3000 tools for loan, as well as related books and how-to videos. Operated by the Oakland Public Library, it has become one of the Library’s most popular services.
