Flooding Forces Temporary Closure of Tool Lending Library

Returns Requested; Staff to Inventory Stock

*****************************************************************************************************************************************

(Oakland, CA)— Due to flooding, the Tool Lending Library, part of the Oakland Public Library, is currently open during its normal hours for tool returns only but is not checking out tools. Most of the tool library is under repair and the majority of the tools are in storage. It is estimated that repairs will take a few weeks.

The Tool Lending Library is located at the Temescal Branch Library, 5205 Telegraph Ave. The Temescal Branch was not damaged by the flooding and is open during its regular business hours.

Patrons who have checked-out tools will not have overdue fines for the days the Tool Lending Library is closed during this emergency. However, the Tool Lending Library is requesting that all tools be returned as soon as possible so that a complete inventory can be accomplished. By doing the annual inventory now, the Tool Lending Library can avoid its annual inventory closure in December.

The Library does not yet have a date when tools will be available again for checkout. For updates on the Tool Lending Library’s status, please call 510-597-5089 for an up-to-date voice message.

For more information, please call the Library at 238-3271. The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland.
