Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales Summer Reading
Finale Celebration Set for August 20
(Oakland, CA) - The Oakland Museum of California and Oakland Public Library invite families to a special day of activities, performances, and fun to celebrate the completion of the 2006 Summer Reading Program. Join us Sunday, August 20, from 1 to 5 pm at the Museum, located at 1000 Oak St. (cross street is 10th St.), about two blocks from the Main library.
The program includes a musical performance by Gary Lapow, storytimes, crafts, a scavenger hunt, docent tours, the Bookmobile, and other treats. Kids who complete the Summer Reading Program can get in free with the Family Explorations Pass they earned at the end of eight hours of reading. They should also plan to bring their completed Summer Reading Program menu, as they will be eligible for a special workshop at the August 20 celebration. Those without a Family Explorations Pass from our Summer Reading Program can attend the festivities with regular Museum admission ($8 adults/$5 seniors and students/free to museum members and children under five years old).
Contact the Children's Room for more information at (510) 238-3848, or visit the library's Web site at www.oaklandlibrary.org or the museum's Web site at www.museumca.org. Please refrain from wearing scented products to library events. To request sign interpretation or other accommodation, call the number above or (510) 834-7446 (TTY) at least five working days before the event. The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland.
