Library Open Houses to Discuss Draft Master Plan;
New Main in Revitalized Kaiser Center Arena

(Oakland, CA)—With summer here, Oakland Public Library staff are inviting everyone to participate in a series of Open Houses to discuss the Draft Master Facility Plan for their libraries and the idea of a new Main Library in a revitalized Henry J. Kaiser Center Arena near Lake Merritt. With nearby Laney College and the Oakland Museum of California, a new Main Library in the Kaiser Arena could result in a new cultural corridor for Oakland!

WHAT: Open House to discuss the future of the Main Library and the Oakland Public Library system

WHEN: Sundays, June 4 and June 11, 1:30-3:00 PM

WHERE: Oakland Main Library-West Auditorium
125 14 th Street/Madison
Oakland, California
(Note: Check www.oaklandlibrary.org for a list of all branch open houses)

WHY: Many of Oakland Public Library’s facilities are over 40 years old and counting. The Oakland Public Library is working on a draft Master Facilities Plan to lay a road map for future library growth and services. The open houses are seeking further input from residents into the creation of this exciting vision.
