For Immediate Release: April 12, 2010
Thursday, April 22 ***************************************************************************************************************************************** ( Oakland, CA)—On Earth Day, April 22, 2010, anyone can drop by Oakland’s Main Library, any branch library, AAMLO, or the Bookmark Bookstore and receive a free canvas tote bag (while supplies last). The Library’s big bag giveaway is part of the Citywide Bring Your Own Bag campaign. The bags are durable, attractive, and can be used to carry books to and from the library. They are also suitable for toting groceries and other shopping. Reuse over and over and help reduce the amount of waste caused by ordinary plastic and paper bags. It’s a natural fit for the Library, where checking out books and other materials is a form of re-use that has been in practice since long before the environmental movement embraced the concept. The bags are courtesy of the Public Works Agency, Oakland Recycles, and Waste Management of Alameda County. To see a complete list of Library locations and addresses, please visit the Library’s Web site: www.oaklandlibrary.org. The Bookmark Bookstore, operated by the Friends of the Oakland Public Library, is located at 721 Washington Street, in Old Oakland (call 510-444-0473). For more information, call 510-238-3134 . The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland. ### |
