Oakland Public Library to Provide Free Election Literature
About Issues and Candidates

****************************************************************************************************************************************************

(Oakland, CA)— As a service to the public, the Oakland Public Library will provide table space where patrons can find free campaign literature relating to issues and candidates on the upcoming February 5, 2008 ballot. Campaign representatives can submit printed election materials to staff at the Main Library or any Oakland Public Library branch. In addition, the Oakland Public Library will have copies of the Easy Voter Guide and other information pertinent to the primary elections.

“The Oakland Library has always been a neutral place to get answers to your questions,” states Gerry Garzon, Deputy Director for Public Services. “Providing tables for campaign literature with both pro and con information is just an extension of our role in encouraging people to be better informed.”

For more details, please call (510) 238-3134 or your local neighborhood library. The Oakland Public Library is a department of the City of Oakland and is the second oldest public library in the state of California. It consists of a main library, fifteen branch libraries, a roving bookmobile, and the African American Museum and Library at Oakland (AAMLO).
