Branch History
The Rockridge District's first public library opened its doors in 1919 in a small rented facility on Shafter Avenue East of College. A few years later the library moved to a storefront on College Avenue. From 1987 - 1996, the library occupied a trailer on the Claremont Middle School property. The new library, built in great part due to strong community support, opened its doors at the current location in 1996. Its architecture is reminiscent of the craftsman style of the homes and businesses in the surrounding neighborhood. Rockridge Branch Library continues to be a hub of the Rockridge District today.
