American Indian Collection

The American Indian Library Service was begun in 1979 with a special bookmobile that served the Indian community. The collection was later moved to the Dimond Branch Library in 1986. The collection serves both Native Americans and the larger community wanting to know more about Native American history and culture. It includes circulating books, CDs and videos, both juvenile and adult, as well as current magazines and newspapers. There is also a non-circulating reference collection.

The Library sponsors several events and exhibits each year, including Native American Culture Day in November.

For more information, visit us at the Dimond Branch Library, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue, Oakland 94602 or call us at (510) 482-7844.
