King welcomes youth volunteers ages 8 and above on Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. A parental or guardian permission slip is required. Please call the branch at 615-5728 for further information.
The collection has approximately 30,000 volumes that are comprised of children, teen and adult books. The collection contains materials in Spanish and Vietnamese languages. The library also has a growing collection of compact discs, videos, and DVD's. A developing special collection on Martin Luther King Jr. features books, videos, audiotapes, and DVDs. The branch also houses a Black History Collection, which contains adult fiction, non-fiction and biographies written by or about people of African descent.

Branch History
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Library was established as a station in 1916 and subsequently designated as the Lockwood Branch in 1929. It was replaced in 1970 by a new facility, named in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
